WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy based on the use of Essential Oils that are extracted from many different plants and their parts including flowers, leaves, roots, and fruits.

Essential Oils have many different therapeutic properties such as the ability to reduce inflammation, prevent infection and encourage healing on both physical and emotional levels.

The therapeutic properties of the Essential Oils enter the body through inhalation and also through absorption by the skin.

Aromatherapy can help to alleviate stress and anxiety, release tension, and also promote recovery from many of the body’s system dysfunctions including problems pertaining to the skin, muscles, respiratory and nervous systems and many more.

Essential Oils are often administered by massage, inhalation, compresses, and can also be used in the bath as well as in a variety of products for the body and home. As Essential Oils are concentrated, they are usually diluted and blended together in a carrier oil, lotion or balm by an Aromatherapist before being applied to the skin.

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy that treats the whole person, therefore a practitioner will take into account mental, emotional and physical details whilst treating or helping to prevent illness and maintain wellbeing.
